The Supporting Pastoralism and Agriculture in Recurrent and Protracted Crises (SPARC) is a six year (2020– 2025) initiative. It aims to develop, broker and manage knowledge, in order to enhance  the ability of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Her Majesty’s  Government (HMG) and the broader development community to assist pastoralists, agro-pastoralists  and farmers living in the context of climate change, protracted crises and ongoing conflicts. The  initiative is led by Cowater International and co-delivered with Overseas Development Institute (ODI),  International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Mercy Corps. (the “Consortium”).  The programme will be active in up to 15 countries where a combination of crises has a major impact  on development. (i.e., locations experiencing the adverse effects of climate change, recurrent crises  and conflict). These include Burkina Faso, Chad, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria,  Syria, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, Uganda, Yemen and Zimbabwe. The list may be revised  depending on UK government needs and emerging opportunities.
